Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Connection Catalyst Podcast’

A podcast series that explores wellness through humor and empathetic conversation. Episodes feature interviews, storytelling, and open dialogues focused on motivational topics and advocacy for racial and social justice.

Components:

Podcast scripting and production

Guest interviews

Audience engagement segments

Social justice themed discussions

Reflective listening exercises.

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
  2. I’m super into relationship advice and making spaces look cool, plus I rock at making people laugh and feel understood. I’ve decided to use these skills to be a motivational speaker, using humor and connection to promote wellness. My goal is to make people feel better while standing up for racial and social justice..

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

TSA – Technology Student Association fosters leadership, project-based learning, and innovative thinking, providing a strong foundation for projects that integrate technology and communication.

FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America develops business acumen, public speaking, and leadership skills, aligning with the student’s advocate business potential and passion for motivational speaking.

Competitions

TSA – TSA Audio Podcasting

This introductory competition directly aligns with the Connection Catalyst Podcast by emphasizing audio production, storytelling, and digital media skills essential for crafting engaging podcast episodes.

FBLA – FBLA Business Communication

This introductory competition builds foundational business communication skills, which are vital for promoting the podcast, engaging with audiences, and conveying professional messages effectively.

TSA – TSA Software Development

This competition, while typically introductory, can be leveraged as an advanced challenge by developing custom digital tools or apps that support the podcast’s production and distribution, enhancing technical proficiency.

FBLA – FBLA Business Plan

As an advanced competition, this event challenges students to develop a comprehensive business plan, which is key to structuring and scaling the Connection Catalyst Podcast into a sustainable venture.

Community Service:

Community Digital Storytelling Workshop

Why it fits: This community service activity leverages the media and communication skills developed through competitions to engage local youth and community members in storytelling, directly resonating with the podcast’s core mission.

Implementation: Plan and execute a series of workshops at a local community center in zip code 30088. Organize sessions on digital media production, storytelling techniques, and podcasting basics, culminating in a community event where participants share their stories.

Skills Development: Digital media production, public speaking, community engagement, and leadership
